We’re Gradually Reopening
The recent times have been challenging for everyone, but we are now starting to see some positive signs and light at the end of the tunnel.
On 12th May, Government advice was updated to allow property viewings, prepare properties for sale or rent and moving home - effectively restarting the property market.
Whilst there is no specific mention of social distancing, it goes without saying that it is expected that all of these activities need to happen whilst maintaining a safe distance from others. There is a lot of reliance on all of us to use our common-sense.
We’re Beginning the Process of Reopening Our Offices
In light of these announcements we will be starting to bring our property teams back into the offices in a considered, sensible and safe manner.
Our top priority is to protect our staff, our customers and the general population as a whole and, by following the strict social distancing guidelines, we can ensure that we are able to reopen our businesses in a safe, COVID-secure way.
It is exceptional that so many of us are working remotely at the same time. As a result, our response times could be affected. We are trying to prioritise responding to urgent requests or those from the more vulnerable, so please bear with us if we do not get back to you as quickly as we normally would.
Safely Visiting Our Offices
To make sure that we are doing everything possible to reduce the risk of infection, keep our staff and customers safe and make our business COVID-secure, we are introducing a series of social distancing measures in our offices. These will include:
Where visits can be postponed or alternative options are available, we will endeavour to avoid visits to occupied properties. However, where property visits are requested or unavoidable, we are operating a number of measures to reduce the risk of infection and to keep people as safe as possible.
These will include pre-visit screening questions for attendees to any meetings, avoiding handshaking and other contact, using hand wipes and sanitiser, keeping a 2-metre distance where at all possible, and wearing protective gloves, face masks, etc if requested or where Government advice dictates.
We are confident that our technology and best practices will enable us to provide a continuity of service irrespective of the location of our people or the length of time that any alternative working arrangements may be required.
Should you require a valuation whether for sale, rent, probate, auction or insurance, we are still able to provide home visits in many circumstances or alternatively these can be provided via email or video link. Please contact a member of the relevant team to discuss your requirements.
We have a number of upcoming fine art /antique and agricultural machinery auctions in the pipeline which will proceed as soon as Government guidance allows.
We will continue to monitor developments closely, and check, modify and update our plans in accordance with Government advice and keep customers informed via our regular mailouts and the ‘news’ section of our website.

UPDATE - 24th March 2020
Open for Business – just working remotely!
Following advice from the UK Government we have temporarily closed our offices and the majority of our teams across the sales, lettings, auctions, professional services and rural departments have moved to remote working until further notice.
We are, however, still very much ‘Open for Business’ and our teams are working remotely but together in order to support our clients and colleagues via telephone and email, doing everything possible to maintain the high levels of service you would expect from us.
The office telephones are on divert and will be answered during office hours but if you need to speak with a specific member of staff, please refer to the Contact Us section of our website where you will find the mobile numbers and email addresses for key team members.
