Control of Wild Birds
18th June 2019
Natural England has announced three new general licences, available from Friday 14th June:
•Conservation of wild birds, flora or fauna (WML GL34)
•Preservation of public health or public safety (WML GL35)
•Prevention of serious damage to livestock, foodstuffs for livestock, crops, vegetables, fruit, growing timber, fisheries or inland waters (WML GL36)
These replace the general licences which were removed at the end of April and allow users to control certain species of wild birds. The licences will be valid until 29th February 2020. In the meantime, DEFRA will lead a review of the longer-term general licensing arrangements.
