Buyers snap up town houses

A DEVELOPMENT of six Cotswold stone constructed cottages has proved so popular with buyers that two were sold before the carpets had been laid.

Now there is a chance for potential buyers to look around the remaining four properties in the Mews @ Querns development at Querns Lane, Cirencester.

Inspired by a 19th century workers’ cottage at the front of the development, five newbuild properties have been sympathetically constructed to the highest standards by local developer, Kemblewood Ltd, to blend in with the Conservation Area environment.

The walls of the houses, and those surrounding the gardens, are of mellow Cotswold stone from nearby Farmington quarry. Wooden window frames and doors have been made especially by a Cirencester joiner and are painted in ‘lizard’, mix of very light brown and green typified by other local buildings in the area, whilst the door fittings come from a local ironmonger.

Meanwhile, the landscaped gardens enjoy a comprehensive planting schedule of around 1,000 named plants.

The houses offer welldesigned accommodation over three floors. From the entrance hall doors lead into the cloakroom, sitting room and kitchen / dining room. Most sitting rooms have dual aspect windows and a stone cut fireplace surround.

A well-planned kitchen includes inbuilt domestic appliances by AEG with a stainless steel finish.

Bespoke handmade and hand-painted kitchen units, made in Wiltshire, feature self-closing drawers. The floors and worktops are made from solid oak and a large Belfast sink lends a traditional feel.

The dining room has French doors leading to a south-facing veranda – perfect for lunch on a sunny day.

On the first floor the cottages each offer two double bedrooms and well appointed bathrooms with thermostatic bath and shower controls, generous separate shower, chrome heated towel rails, chrome mixer taps, limestone ceramic wall and floor tiles.

A formal staircase leads to the second floor providing an expansive room offering flexible use, perhaps as a study, hobby room or guest bedroom. Throughout the house the walls and interior woodwork are decorated in complimenting neutral colours.

Four of the cottages have their own rear garden, accessed from the dining area via French doors. Formal communal gardens are situated to the front with a designated parking place for each cottage.

Quietly located away from main roads, Mews @ Querns is nonetheless conveniently situated, with the historic town centre, two major supermarkets and the town’s new leisure centre less than five minutes’ level walk.

Mews @ Querns, at 27 Querns Lane, Cirencester, is being sold through the Cirencester office of Moore Allen & Innocent, with prices starting from £330,000. To request further information, or arrange a viewing, call 01285 648100.
