    Angela is administrator, and PA to Philip Allwood and Piers Critchlow She grew up in a hotel in the highlands of Scotland, and her last job before joining Moore Allen & Innocent was managing a boutique hotel in the Cotswolds.
    • Angela worked for the company that first imported skateboards into the UK in the 1970s.
    • As part of her job in events management, Angela had to try out five star hotels around the world – tough job!
    • They say everyone has a novel in them: Angela has two on the boil, plus a children’s book, which she is also illustrating.

    Philip is senior auctioneer and valuer, and partner with responsibility for running the auction rooms. A generalist with expertise in 17th and 18th century furniture and musical instruments, Philip has been an auctioneer since 1986 and joined the firm in 1997. He frequently appears on antiques shows on TV.

    • Philip conducted his first auction on his 21st birthday, after hitting a deer in his Mini on the way to work.
    • The most expensive antique Philip ever sold was an uncatalogued Rembrandt he found in a client’s attic. It sold for £2.2 million – a provincial auction house record.
    • A punk and rock fan, he once lit Joe Strummer’s cigarette at a Clash after-show party in Brixton, and treated himself to a 900cc Triumph Thruxton motorbike for his 50th birthday.

    Piers is an auctioneer and valuer, who has been selling antiques from the rostrum since the age of 24. He started his career at Potburys in Sidmouth before joining Moore Allen in 2014.

    • The most expensive antique Piers ever auctioned was a 3.5cm Japanese netsuke in the form of a rat, which sold for £28,000 in 2016.
    • He plays guitar, bass, and double bass.
    • Piers is one of the world’s leading authorities on Napoleonic camel saddles, by virtue of the fact that it is a very specialist field of expertise.

    Kevin is a porter, with a wealth of warehouse experience – perfect for slogging heavy antique furniture around the saleroom.

    • Kevin became a postal cadet straight after school, but didn’t like the early starts.
    • Before retiring through injury, he played football for Stratton Athletic, Golden Farm, and The Beeches in the right back position.
    • Nowadays he can be found at the oche, playing darts in the Cirencester League. He’s good at it, too, and recently threw his fourth 180.

    Jon is a sale day porter, whose duties range from moving furniture to assisting customers. For 10 years he was creative director of EHS Brann in Cirencester, and for 17 years after that he ran his own branding company, 17-7.

    • Jon’s work on TV commercials with Brann brought him into contact with big names including actor Jeremy Irons and horse racing commentator Peter O’Sullivan.
    • He’s a beekeeper with eight colonies of bees, totalling around a quarter of a million in number.
    • Jon is a keen collector of tin toys from the 1950s and 1960s, which makes him the go-to guy when they come into the saleroom.

    Mike is a sale day porter, whose duties include showing items to bidders and checking lots against the catalogue. On auction day he can be found behind the cabinets, handling delicate ornaments and jewellery. He joined the firm in 2014.

    • Mike spent 40 years with the Highways Department, fixing potholes. He reckons lifting 100 lb bags of cement was good training for shifting large pieces of furniture in the saleroom.
    • Until 1980 he played on the right wing for Down Ampney football club, and won trophies in the Cirencester & District football league.
    • He applied for a position with Moore Allen in 2014 after seeing an auction from the saleroom on BBC’s Flog It! programme.

    Sue is the firm’s business development manager, tasked with improving processes and practice across Moore Allen & Innocent. She joined the firm in April 2016.
    • Sue was shortlisted to go on a now famous cookery programme in 1994 but sadly didn’t make the cut however is still famed for her awesome risotto.
    • She used to swim for Surrey. Her best stroke was the butterfly.
    • Sue is part Scottish by birth, but left Glasgow at the age of four months.

    Saleroom Co-ordinatorLucie has worked for Moore Allen for 14 years. Her duties range from unpacking boxes to valuing antiques and selling from the rostrum.
    • Lucie graduated from Buckinghamshire with a degree in silversmithing.
    • She is renowned for her baking skills, and guests of Moore Allen’s VIP events often find themselves nibbling on Lucie’s cheese straws or lemon drizzle cake.
    • Lucie is also well-known for her sharp dress sense. Her bright yellow Karen Millen heels have made more than one appearance on national television.

    Steve is a porter, who worked for the Royal Air Force man and boy. He enlisted at the age of 18, and on retirement, at the age of 55, served with the Royal Auxiliary Air Force for eight years.

    • Steve served on the Hercules, flying out of Lyneham. He was in charge of loading things onto, and unloading them from, the aircraft. Unloading often occurred mid-flight.
    • Surprise! Steve’s daughter Lucie already worked at Moore Allen & Innocent when Steve joined the firm. She had no idea he had been approached… or accepted the job.
    • Steve collects art, and often bids on lots at the saleroom.

    Adele is the saleroom secretary and assistant, whose responsibilities range from unpacking boxes of antiques to typing up the catalogue.
    • Adele used to work in TV production, making programmes like Equinox, Faking It, and Wife Swap. Her work took her all over the world.
    • She used to answer the phone to Princess Diana, who was a close friend of her boss when she worked at Tiffany & Co in London.
    • Adele sings in an all-female jazz group, The Blue Notes, and is also proficient in ballet and tap dance.
