    Philip is senior auctioneer and valuer, and partner with responsibility for running the auction rooms. A generalist with expertise in 17th and 18th century furniture and musical instruments, Philip has been an auctioneer since 1986 and joined the firm in 1997. He frequently appears on antiques shows on TV.

    • Philip conducted his first auction on his 21st birthday, after hitting a deer in his Mini on the way to work.
    • The most expensive antique Philip ever sold was an uncatalogued Rembrandt he found in a client’s attic. It sold for £2.2 million – a provincial auction house record.
    • A punk and rock fan, he once lit Joe Strummer’s cigarette at a Clash after-show party in Brixton, and treated himself to a 900cc Triumph Thruxton motorbike for his 50th birthday.

    Jenny is a residential property negotiator at Moore Allen & Innocent's Lechlade office.

    * Jenny's ambition was to be a flight attendant. She studied travel and tourism at Cirencester College and worked as a travel agent for two years to fulfil her dream – before having a last-minute change of heart.

    * Jenny is an animal lover. She rides her horse, Sunny, in hunter trials and her six dogs – three Labradors and three Spaniels – are working dogs with local shoots.

    * She's sporty too, and used to play netball for Farmor's School in Fairford as goalkeeper. Her team won the district title and once undertook an international tour of Malta.

    Roy is the partner in charge of the residential sales department. He attended the College of Estate Management, Reading University in the late 1980s, joined Moore Allen & Innocent in 1988 and became a partner in 1995. Assisted by his team, he reckons he’s sold 125 houses a year for 30 years - that’s 3,750 houses.

    * Roy bought his first house at the age of 17, whilst serving with the Royal Navy.
    * He served on the frigate HMS Yarmouth – during which time he was part of the Task Force sent to the Falkland Islands.
    * Roy enjoys ski-ing, squash, cricket, and rugby. He’s also kept his sea legs, and enjoys sailing off shore along the south coast.

    Property Management

    Retired Army captain Bob joined the firm in 2012 as a property manager in the lettings department. He's the first port of call for landlords or tenants with a query or problem.

    * Bob is used to problem solving – he was in logistics with the Royal Corps of Transport/Royal Logistic Corps, ensuring men and material could get to where they were needed, anywhere in the world. He ended his Army career at the age of 50 as quartermaster at Hullavington barracks. Property management was part of his brief.

    * Bob is the son of a Nottingham coal miner, but didn't fancy a job underground. Instead he joined the Army at 16 and has travelled all over the world, including the Falklands and the Middle East.

    * He enjoys on-road and off-road cycling (he has a bike for each) and open water swimming. He recently swam six miles of the River Dart in three hours and seventy seconds.

    • Jenni ‘fell into’ bookkeeping despite having no formal training. She took qualifications later in life, at Cirencester College.
    • She’s a motorcycle fan, and with her husband enjoys biking holidays round Europe.
    • Jenni once received a kiss from motor racing legend Barry Sheen. A 6ft 2ins in heels she towered over the biker.

    Amy works in the residential sales department, where she is training to be an estate agent.

    * She is Moore Allen & Innocent’s first apprentice. Alongside her work, Amy is studying business administration and estate agency with Learn Direct.
    * During her A Levels, Amy studied to be a primary school teacher, but after spending 40 hours with 30 six year olds, she decided the job wasn’t for her.
    * Amy is well travelled, and has visited America, Canada, Australia, and several European countries. She once travelled across the Mojave Desert from Los Angeles to Las Vegas in the back seat of a bright yellow convertible VW Beetle, with everyone’s luggage stacked on her lap.

    Kevin is a porter, with a wealth of warehouse experience – perfect for slogging heavy antique furniture around the saleroom.

    • Kevin became a postal cadet straight after school, but didn’t like the early starts.
    • Before retiring through injury, he played football for Stratton Athletic, Golden Farm, and The Beeches in the right back position.
    • Nowadays he can be found at the oche, playing darts in the Cirencester League. He’s good at it, too, and recently threw his fourth 180.

    • Elizabeth enjoys fitness, riding horses and cheers on Wales in the Rugby – putting her at odds with all the England rugby fans in the office.

    • Elizabeth spent a year living in Germany as part of her degree and can speak French, Italian and ‘fluent’ German.

    • She’s well-travelled, and has trekked around New Zealand, Australia, Thailand, and the United States.

    Teresa is a property negotiator in the residential sales team but she never expected to become an estate agent.

    * After completing a secretarial course at Stroud College, Kemble-born Teresa came to Moore Allen & Innocent to provide two weeks’ holiday cover in admin support…
    * …and in 2018 she’ll celebrate her 30th anniversary with the firm.
    * Back in the 1990s, Teresa was given responsibility for the firm’s only mobile phone. Later, she had the company’s only computer with email installed, and colleagues would have to use her PC to send and receive electronic mail.

    Chris Dixon has been an auction porter at the Norcote saleroom since August 2017. He has a BA in fine art from Middlesborough and is the firm's go-to guy for identifying and valuing 20th century European glassware. He's also knowledgeable about vinyl records.

    * Chris is a collector of post-war Czechoslovakia and Scandinavian studio glass, and something of a self-taught expert on it.

    * Born into a military family, Chris grew up in Norway and also lived in Denmark and Belgium.

    * Between teaching art to A level students and joining the antiques trade, Chris owned a record shop in Middlesborough, and put on gigs around the town by indie, rock and punk bands.

    Chris is one of the firm’s partners, and heads the agricultural department. He is a RICS registered valuer and panel valuer for the Tenant Farmer Association. He specialises in Basic Payment Scheme, CAP reform, tenancy and rent reviews, estate planning and succession, and minerals. He joined the firm in 1988.

    • Before joining Moore Allen & Innocent, Chris was a diversification advisor at The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, where he helped farmers into worm farming (vermiculture) and the breeding of edible snails. He also helped kickstart the English calvados industry.
    • Chris is a Member of the Worshipful Company of Weavers and a Freeman of the City of London. As such he is permitted to drive a flock of sheep across Tower Bridge. Handily, he keeps 15 pedigree Llanwenogs.
    • He has a share in a racehorse, Azure Fly, trained by Charlie Longsdon

    Mark joined Moore Allen & Innocent in 2005 and is a partner of the firm with joint responsibility for running the residential sales team and the front office.

    * Brought up in Royal Wootton Bassett, he studied environmental science at Brighton before returning to Wiltshire to live and raise a family; married to Jules for 14 years they have two sons and a border terrier, Huxley.
    * After A Levels, he took a job as a hydronic analyst. On a training exercise down a sewer, he got a face full of waste while putting on his breathing apparatus during an emergency gas drill. Thankfully, most of his work involved mathematical modelling on a computer.
    * He once skied with former champion alpine ski racer Franz Klammer, although if you press him on the subject he’ll admit that although he and Klammer started at the top of the slope together, the Austrian’s descent was a little faster.

    Mark is a partner of Moore Allen & Innocent, working in the agricultural department. He joined the firm in 1985 as a livestock auctioneer. Today his specialisms include valuing and selling land and rural properties, and auctioning farm machinery.

    * Employment as a whipper-in for the VWH Hunt brought Mark to the Cotswolds. Today he is joint master of the hunt.
    * He lives at Ewen, and during dry spells a spring on his land is the source of the River Thames.
    * During one eventful dispersal sale, Mark joined the farm owner in the sidecar of his motorbike. After doing 100mph past cheering and clapping bidders the brakes failed, and the pair crashed into a muck heap.

    Mike is a sale day porter, whose duties include showing items to bidders and checking lots against the catalogue. On auction day he can be found behind the cabinets, handling delicate ornaments and jewellery. He joined the firm in 2014.

    • Mike spent 40 years with the Highways Department, fixing potholes. He reckons lifting 100 lb bags of cement was good training for shifting large pieces of furniture in the saleroom.
    • Until 1980 he played on the right wing for Down Ampney football club, and won trophies in the Cirencester & District football league.
    • He applied for a position with Moore Allen in 2014 after seeing an auction from the saleroom on BBC’s Flog It! programme.

    • He grew up on a farm near Sherston and gets roped in to do the haymaking every summer.
    • Stuart is a swing bowler for Avening and Cherington Cricket Club, and plays central midfield for Didmarton in the Stroud Football League.

    Paul is the partner in charge of the firm’s residential lettings department and also works in the agricultural team.

    From a farming family background he has lived in Gloucestershire all his life and manages property portfolios from Cotswold cottages to country estates.
    As well as residential lettings and property management, Paul also advises on land and estate management issues, employment matters, farm business structures and various environmental and agricultural support schemes including the Basic Payment Scheme.

    • In 1993, while studying at the Royal Agricultural College, Paul was named the top farm management student in the UK, having been runner up the previous year.
    • In 2003, at the age of 33, Paul became the youngest partner in the history of Moore Allen & Innocent.

    Saleroom Manager Lucie has worked for Moore Allen since 2002. Her duties range from unpacking boxes to valuing antiques and selling from the rostrum.
    • Lucie graduated from Buckinghamshire with a degree in silversmithing.
    • She is renowned for her baking skills, and guests of Moore Allen’s VIP events often find themselves nibbling on Lucie’s cheese straws or lemon drizzle cake.
    • Lucie is also well-known for her sharp dress sense. Her bright yellow Karen Millen heels have made more than one appearance on national television.

    Steve is a porter, who worked for the Royal Air Force man and boy. He enlisted at the age of 18, and on retirement, at the age of 55, served with the Royal Auxiliary Air Force for eight years.

    • Steve served on the Hercules, flying out of Lyneham. He was in charge of loading things onto, and unloading them from, the aircraft. Unloading often occurred mid-flight.
    • Surprise! Steve’s daughter Lucie already worked at Moore Allen & Innocent when Steve joined the firm. She had no idea he had been approached… or accepted the job.
    • Steve collects art, and often bids on lots at the saleroom.

    • Margo is an Aston Villa fan. Her first date with her husband was to Villa Park, where the Villans beat Chesterfield 3-0.

    • Adele used to work in TV production, making programmes like Equinox, Faking It, and Wife Swap. Her work took her all over the world.
    • She used to answer the phone to Princess Diana, who was a close friend of her boss when she worked at Tiffany & Co in London.
    • Adele sings in an all-female jazz group, The Blue Notes, and is also proficient in ballet and tap dance.

    * She loves gardens and home improvements – she and her husband have restored five properties before selling up and moving on to their next project.

    * Keith grew up above The Greyhound in Siddington, which his parents owned. It was a family business for two generations, but not fancying the unsociable hours Keith joined the Stroud and Swindon building society, where he worked for 27 years, starting as a cashier and working through the business ending up as Group Senior Compliance Manager.

    * Before joining Moore Allen & Innocent, Keith knew many of the staff and partners through his involvement with the Nomads cricket team, of which he is President. He holds the club's bowling record: six for five. Keith is also an associate member of The Marylebone Cricket Club, the spiritual home of cricket at Lord's.

    * When he's not watching cricket in north London, Keith is watching football there. He's been an Arsenal fan since childhood, and as a season ticket holder he shows his support at most home games.

    Anthony joined the agricultural department in 2013, and specialises in Strategic and Development Land and Farm Management. He is an RICS registered valuer.

    • Anthony holds a rural land management degree from the Royal Agricultural University.
    • He is captain of the Nomads cricket team.
    • He also enjoys real ale and shooting – but not at the same time.
