The last Antique and General sale of the year and the last before Christmas proved to be as successful as ever, with some of the most successful lots being toys. A collection of Corgi toys including a boxed model of “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” made a hammer price of £250, dolls also proved to be popular with a lot comprising of two German bisque headed dolls realising £190 and a Pelham Puppet plus 5 other dolls making £130, as expected the Steiff bear (lot 635) sold well at £80.

There were some surprises within the sale as well, with two indentures, one of which bore a wax seal dating from Elizabeth 1st reign making £750. A collection of 1st world war medals and a death plaque pertaining to Private H Oakey and two other members of his family made £500. As normal furniture sold well including a mahogany and inlaid bow front chest of drawers (illustrated below) making £580.

Our next sale is our selected antique on the 8th December which has a good collection of oak including a circa 1700 spoon rack (illustrated below) and a 18th Century Continental stump and needle work picture (illustrated below), we also have another wax seal dating from the late 16th Century entered by the same vendor as the indentures we sold in as last sale (see above).
