Sporting Success
With 1500 lots and a packed Saleroom of bidders, the Sporting Sale on 1st September proved to be another great success. The top price of the day was led by a Tiger Skin Rug by the world famous firm of Van Ingen & Van Ingen of Mysore, which topped the Taxidermy selling for £1,500. Further similar rugs also sold well, with three others approaching four figures. The star of a large Fishing section was a stunning Farlow oak fly box fitted with various flies, baits and spinners. After fierce competition it eventually sold for double the estimate at £1,400. Game counters are always popular and a plated example by James Dixon & Sons inscribed “Rabbits” and “Pheasants” realised £940. Overall a strong result throughout, with most of the items on offer finding new homes.
