New face behind the gavel

David GreatwoodTHERE’S a new face behind the gavel at Moore Allen & Innocent, after auctioneer and valuer David Greatwood joined the team at the Cotswold saleroom.

David, 48, has spent 20 years in the antiques trade. He started his career with Phillips auctioneers in London, and has worked for names familiar in the antiques world, including Dreweatt Neate, as well as holding senior positions at provincial auction houses around the UK.

With a degree in fine art, David says he is particularly looking forward to Moore Allen’s selected picture sale on October 22.

David is also keenly interested in clocks, furniture and silverware, all of which will be well represented at the selected antique sale on September 24.

“Moore Allen & Innocent has an excellent reputation in the industry, and when I heard the partners were looking for a new valuer and auctioneer I just had to apply for the job,” said David.

“I’ll be supporting senior auctioneer and valuer Philip Allwood, both in conducting valuations at the saleroom or in people’s homes, and leading the fortnightly auctions from the rostrum, which is where I love to be,” he said.
