IT’S full steam ahead at the next auction of antiques at Moore Allen & Innocent in Cirencester, where several lots of railway memorabilia will come under the hammer.
Now standing at platform one are two early 20th century passenger benches from the Great Eastern Railway, which ran services between London and Norwich.
The benches have black-painted wrought iron frames – with the railway company logo forming part of the decorative ironwork – and pine seats and backs.
The longer of the two, which seats 12, carries an estimate of £200 to £300, while the shorter, which seats six, is valued at between £150 and £200.
Departing from platform two is a black-painted iron lamp by Adlake Railway Supplies Ltd, London from the London, Midland and Scottish Railway, which operated the West Coast Mainline from London to Edinburgh and the Midland Main Line between London and Sheffield. It carries an estimate of £20 to £30.
And in the repair yard is a collection of 13 original locomotive blueprints, featuring the plans of working parts from steam trains of the Great Western Railway and London, Midland and Scottish Railway.
Also included in the lot is an engineer’s hard hat and a circa 1933 GWR Rule Book which, as the inscription inside the front cover states, was owned by Robert G Heath of the GWR Drawing Office, Swindon. The lot carries an estimate of £50 to £80.
The auction is held at Moore Allen & Innocent saleroom from 9.30am on Friday, September 11.
